A Student Parking Pass: The Pros & Cons

Transcript

Today I wanted to talk to you about the pros and cons of a student parking pass. Now, whether you've bought a parking pass or not is irrelevant.

I hope this gives you some good information in the future if you haven't. If you have, I hope this gives you a few things to consider before you buy another.

The pros are that (1) you can get good parking, 2 you can get to your classes on time because you have good parking in relation to where your classes are. 3, you don't have to hike in from a public road.

Some people like the accessibility and the easiness of getting to class by being able to park close to the buildings. That's great. Those are obviously good reasons about a parking pass.

Some of the not so great things about a parking pass, is one, they can be very expensive, two, you have to buy one every single year, and three, the very good parking passes often go very quickly. Or you may not even be able to get one.

So, if you are considering getting a parking pass, make sure you go on the first day they are available and with enough money to buy it. You definitely don't want to get to the window and find out you don't have enough money. What a waste.

My opinion of student parking passes, for what it's worth, I don't think they are worth the money. This is just my own personal experience with my own schools parking passes.

I would much rather park on the public road where they don't require a student parking pass and just walk in.

You know, it takes some extra time, but it's good exercise. It only requires me to get there a few minutes earlier that I normally would and I don't have to pay for the parking pass. And often if you show up early enough you'll find excellent parking spots on a public road that are fantastic.

You don't even have to walk very far at all if you show up a little bit earlier.

Again, this might not sound as good to you if you want to park close to the school. That's fine if you want to have a parking pass if you want to be close, it's convenient.

But if you want to save a little bit of extra money and don't mind getting there a little bit earlier, use the public roads, don't worry about the parking pass and just get there a little early, get a good spot, and you'll get to school on time.

I hope that this has helped you understand a few pros and cons about student parking passes and good luck!
